debuting with its first release Rapid Cash Flow featuring veteran New York based artist Lenky Don and Swiss producer Bony Fly.
Dimelow gives space to Dancehall and Latinx Reggaetón artists to be inventive and create exciting music.
Lenky Don and Bony Fly linked up in East Flatbush, Brooklyn in July 2018. They chilled together in Lenky’s apartment, freestyling while Bony Fly played his beats and Lenky improvised over them. Eventually, they came up with the track “Rapid Cash Flow”, an ode to Lenky Don’s career so far and the image he has created through his many ventures and collaborations. The track was recorded in 15 minutes - when you’ve got it, you’ve got it. The late 90s dancehall flow combined with the dynamic reggaeton beat hits the nail on the head.
Lenky has been in New York since the late 80s, where he quickly found his feet and made a name for himself. Spin and Sauce magazine described him as having a “machine-gun flow”, something he has kept at his core no matter the genre, and this track is no different. The sound they’ve created draws on Lenky Don’s rough-and-ready dancehall style, as well as Bony Fly’s passion for the genre and production talents.
The combination results in an effortless, spontaneous burst of energy. “Rapid Cash Flow” explains how he got into the business and stayed relevant, through hard work, keeping his lyrics sharp and pushing the envelope. This is a special, unconventional track, bringing a breath of fresh air to reggaeton and dancehall. It is likely the first of many on Dimelow from Lenky Don.
